Girlie Feet
Here's a couple cool pictures Annie posed me for. We took turns pampering each other with manicures, pedicures, knitting and conversation during a "Special Kindig Girls Evening". We didn't paint our finger nails because our knitting yarn would have messed up our polish. So we just painted each other's toes and knitted in bed until we fell asleep. She was thrilled when I told her she could pick a red color if she wanted to. She wanted to document her first red polish in pictures. Well, she is almost a first grader and she is losing her baby teeth....SIGH....
Fresh Eggs
We visited our friends Kari and Indy yesterday. Indy showed Annie and Emerson how to gather eggs from their hen house. They generously let us have 6 eggs. They are almost too pretty to eat. There are a few brown ones, a speckled one, and a pale green one. The interesting thing is that they have a few brown hens, a speckled one and one with green feathers. It appears the chick resembles its mommy. Or the egg resembles the hen. Very cool.
Dinner tonight: Scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast!

Watching the Children & the Garden Grow
Grammy and Bompa,
Emer says, "Next time you're coming over we have a knock-knock joke for you."
Annie says, "And we will share some of the food from our garden with you."
Emer says, "We're growin' 'matoes, lettuce, and pum-kins."
Mommy says, "We're also growing zucchini, cilantro, roses, zinnias, and marigolds."

Our Bunting
These are the best photos I have been able to get so far. My windows are dirty and we have dark solar screens. But I have just taken the screen off and washed the window. So keep posted...perhaps I will get a better shot today.

Painted Buntings
This sweetie has been a regular at our kitchen window bird feeder for a few days now....he's sharing the food with a cardinal family (mom, dad and son), a mourning dove couple, a wren family (mom, dad and 3 babies in a nest low enough to see the peeps), as well as many other sparrows and sweet singers!
Oh, and I need to mention that last week we had the awesome opportunity to see 3 Great Horned Owlets in their nest in our park. Our friend has been watching the nest since January and brought us there and set up her scope for us....WOW!!! And we have a Crested Caracara who lives nearby (they look a lot like a bald eagle), a red shouldered hawk pair nesting behind our house, and a Road Runner dashed past the fence this morning...How can we ever leave our back yard?
This isn't a picture that I took...my camera always needs batteries and I can never change them fast enough before he gets spooked...so Annie suggested we get a photo from the internet. Hopefully we will get a good picture to post soon.
